Autism and Developmental Disabilities ClinicThe Autism and Developmental Disabilities Clinic provides a full range of outpatient clinical services to persons with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other developmental disabilities and their families. Services are organized around the client and family goals. Clinical activities available to clients include disciplinary and interdisciplinary evaluations for purposes of diagnostic clarification, and for provision of recommendations for treatment. Recommendations specifically address education, social, emotional, vocational, or recreational needs. Local and regional school districts contract with the Autism and Developmental Disabilities Clinic for on-site interdisciplinary assessments and consultation. Treatment involves a wide range of individual and group activities, carried out both by individual discipline providers and by interdisciplinary teams. Therapies may be provided by any of the clinicians and may involve family therapy, social skills group, cognitive-behavior group therapy for treatment of anxiety symptoms in ASD, supportive counseling, behavioral therapies, parent guidance, and parent information sessions. Comprehensive treatment programs for young children with autism are a particular specialty of the clinic. Treatment may be delivered at JFK Partners, in homes, or in other community settings. All clinical activities focus on increasing personal independence, social relationships, participation and responsibility, and community involvement and inclusion for persons of all age with developmental disabilities and their families.
