JFKPartners: The NICU Leadership Group

The NICU Leadership Group

This program is designed to provide consultation and direction to The Center for Family and Infant Interaction on issues regarding leadership, change, and teaming within Neonatal Intensive Care Units and related community transitional services. Primary areas of consultation revolve around the implementation of developmentally supportive and family-centered care. This program also provides support to its members who must address challenges within their own settings; provides a forum for networking with professionals who work with infants and families in an intensive care nursery setting, or upon transitioning to the community; and conducts research to investigate successful leadership, change, and team dynamics.

Major Goals:

  1. To consult with The Center for Family and Infant Interaction in support the Center's mission and goals;
  2. To discuss and provide goal-oriented information on the processes of leadership, teams, and change as it relates to the Intensive Care Nursery experience and upon transition to the community;
  3. To support implementation of developmentally supportive and family centered care within the Intensive Care Nurseries in the state of Colorado;
  4. To conduct research related to the process of change, and the dynamics of leadership and teams within an Intensive Care Nursery setting, and during the transition to community based programs for infants and families.

Funding Sources:

This project is supported by the Colorado Department of Education, Early Childhood Initiatives, and the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs, Grant No. H029A80069.
